Letters from a Chingona
What Is Letters from a Chingona?
Letters from a Chingona is a storytelling project rooted in cultural pride, truth-telling, and unapologetic identity. This growing collection of letters, essays, and reflections gives voice to Latinas and women of color as they reclaim space, honor heritage, and speak truth to the systems that have shaped — and sometimes silenced — us.
These aren’t just stories. They are declarations of survival, love, rage, resistance, and joy.
Each letter is written from the heart — to America, to our ancestors, to the next generation, to ourselves — reflecting on how our culture, identity, and lived experiences have been shaped by society, community, and resilience.
Why It Matters
Our voices are often left out of the narrative — erased, edited, or misunderstood. Letters from a Chingona is a space to change that. Through words, art, and lived truth, we uplift the complex, powerful realities of what it means to be Latina, Tejana, Indigenous, Afro-Latina, immigrant, first-gen, or any combination of identities that make us who we are.
This project is a love letter to the culture that raised us — and a challenge to the systems that tried to erase it.
Who Can Participate
We invite all self-identified Chingonas — women and femmes of Latinx/Hispanic heritage — to submit a letter (250–350 words) exploring how society has shaped your culture and identity. Whether your voice is fierce, reflective, humorous, or poetic — this is your space.
Letters from a Chingona y Chingón is a community storytelling project, created by Linda Ramirez that invites voices like yours to reflect, reclaim, and rise.
We are quietly collecting submissions before our public launch.)
